Data We Collect

To provide a secure car-sharing marketplace, we collect the following categories of information:

1.1 Personal & Account Information Account Basics: Full name, email address, and phone number. Media: Profile pictures stored securely in our cloud infrastructure. Physical Location: Your primary city or residential address.

1.2 Identity Verification (KYC) — Strictly Protected Identity is our "Trust & Safety" cornerstone. We collect: Government IDs: Photos of your Ghana Card or Driver's License. Biometrics: A "Selfie" holding your ID to prevent identity theft and spoofing. Document Details: ID numbers, dates of birth, and expiry dates to ensure all drivers are legal and verified.

1.3 Financial Data For Renters: We track spending and payment methods (Bank/Mobile Money). Note: Raw card details are processed via secure WebViews by Paystack and are never stored on Edifion servers. For Owners: Bank account details and Mobile Money (MTN, Vodafone/Telecel, AirtelTigo) information for payouts. Earnings: We track wallet balances, including funds held in Escrow until trip completion.

1.4 Vehicle & Asset Information (Owners Only) Listing Details: Make, model, year, and transmission type. Legal Documents: Proof of ownership and insurance documents. Real-time Data: GPS coordinates and damage inspection logs (Photos + Text).

Device Permissions

Our apps require specific hardware access to function effectively:

Location (GPS): To suggest nearby cars and track active rentals for security.
Camera & Photo Library: To scan KYC documents and take vehicle inspection photos during handoff.
Push Notifications: To alert you about booking updates, messages, and payment success.

How We Use Your Data

Safety & Security: Verifying identities via government data to prevent theft or fraud.
Service Fulfillment: To process bookings and facilitate car handoffs.
Financial Operations: Distributing earnings to owners and processing rental payments.
Dispute Resolution: Using chat logs and inspection photos to resolve damage claims fairly.

Data Sharing & Third Parties

We only share data with essential service providers to enable the app’s functionality: Infrastructure: Supabase (AWS-backed) for secure database storage and authentication. Mapping: Google Maps Platform for rendering locations. Payments: Paystack and Mobile Network Operators for secure transactions. Communications: Firebase for delivering push notifications.

Security & Retention

Data Protection: We utilize Row-Level Security (RLS) in our Postgres database, ensuring you are the only person who can access your private data. Escrow Security: Rental funds are held securely by the platform and are only released to the owner once value is confirmed. Geography: Our data practices are optimized for the West African market, specifically Ghana and Nigeria.
